The Gospel

What is The Gospel

The word gospel means "good news." Therefore, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the Good News of Jesus Christ.  To summarize the Gospel, it's that Jesus Christ the Son of God came down from Heaven into the flesh and lived a perfect and sinless life. He bore our sins and died on the cross. Jesus then rose from the grave three days later defeating sin and death once and for all. He is now sitting at the right hand of God alive and well!

But before we can receive the good news we need to understand and come to terms with the bad news.

The Bad News

The bad news is, we are all sinners. We have all fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
See, God created a beautiful and perfect world for us to enjoy with Him. But God didn't want to create humans to be robots and love Him automatically; therefore, He gave us free will to choose or not to choose Him. So for a while, things were perfect. Adam and Eve walked and talked with God. They had a perfect relationship with Him. But then came the choice: continue to obey and walk in harmony with God, or choose to follow their own way and desires.  By the snare of Satan, he deceived Eve by twisting God's command, and they both chose to disobey God and ate the fruit of the tree that they were commanded not to eat from, which brought sin into the world forever. (See Genesis 3). There was no turning back. Perfect harmony with God was over. From this one decision, sin would be passed down through Adam's seed from generation to generation.

THE GOSPEL AKA THE GOOD NEWS

Because Adam and Eve chose to listen to Satan and disobey God, there had to be consequences because God is Holy and perfect. So he lays it down on them, starting with the serpent.

To the Serpent God said: "...Cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head and you shall bruise his heel. (Gen 3:14-15).

This is our first introduction to the gospel. Yep, that's right! The Gospel of Jesus Christ started in the beginning of Genesis and plays throughout the rest of the Bible. God had a plan of redemption for mankind well before man made the catastrophic decision. Even before creation. AMAZING.

Did you catch that little hint? Her offspring? Other translations use the word, seed. Wait a second, HER SEED? Doesn't man carry the seed? Well, if Jesus were to come through Adam's seed, that would mean Jesus would be born into sin, and that is impossible. That's where the virgin Mary comes in. Jesus was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit through Mary. A virgin birth. Her offspring. Jesus was born perfect and stayed perfect to be the perfect final sacrifice on the cross for our sins. He bore the sins of you and I on the Cross. You know what that means? You and I escape God's wrath.  Jesus took our punishment. But that's not the end of the story. Jesus was buried, and on the third day, HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD. JESUS DEFEATED SIN AND DEATH ONCE AND FOR ALL. Because of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross He reconciled  us to the Holy and Righteous God. We are in Harmony once again with our Heavenly Father.

And one day, Jesus is coming back to bring us to God once and for all for those who believe in His name!

I Heard the Gospel, Now What do I Do?

You have a decision to make. The most important decision you'll ever make in your lifetime.

Will you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and live for Him?

Or, will you chose to reject Him. Turn your back on His saving grace?

Each one comes with a consequence. Heaven or Hell.

See, He isn't going to make you be with him forever. Remember we have free will. God will never force Himself on you. You have a choice.

Finally, if you believe in your heart that Jesus, God in flesh, came down and lived a perfect life, went to the cross to die and sacrifice Himself to save you, then rose again three days later defeating sin and death and that He is coming once again to bring us HOME, then do as Romans 10:9 says, "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

Confess that you need a savior. Tell Jesus that you are a sinner and ready to repent and  use your life to serve and follow Him. Tell Him that you are ready to change your life. That you believe He came and died and rose again and is coming back!

I've Accepted Christ as My Savior, Now What do I Do?

Now you grow in your faith! If you don't have a bible, get one! Study it. Meditate on it. Soak it into every aspect of your life. Find a church and join it! Get plugged in and use your life to live for Him! Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to truth and to help you understand.

The Great Commission

Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20 "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Go and share your Fatih and story with others. Be a light in this dark world!
